Up and coming concert: Two Pianos in the Form of a Pear, at Place des Arts, Saturday, November 14, 2009, 7:30 pm 1120 Brunette Avenue, Coquitlam, BC.

In celebration of the francophone culture of Maillardville, faculty pianist Anna Levy with guests, pianist Jane Hayes and saxophonist Colin MacDonald, present hauntingly beautiful works by 20th Century French composers, including Erik Satie and Claude Debussy. Also featured on the program will be works by Jacques Ibert, Charles Koechlin, Colin MacDonald, and Darius Milhaud’s Scaramouche arranged for two pianos and saxophone. Tickets $13.00 + GST, Adults/$11.50+GST, students and seniors.

Be sure to catch the concert featuring Anna Levy and Jane Hayes – the Yarilo Music Ensemble – in a concert entitled “Prometheus – Master of Fire and Cosmos,” which will take place at Vancouver’s Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, June 20 at 2:00 p.m. The concert is in honour of distinguished Canadian composer Alexina Louie on the occasion of her 60th birthday, and will compositions by her along with fellow Canadians John Burke and Jocelyn Morlock. The program will feature the North American premiere of Alexander Scriabin’s masterpiece “Prometheus – Poem of Fire” in a version for two pianos.
